This boundweave tote was woven based on a pattern from Yarn Barn of Kansas, using wool weft yarn on a cotton warp. I altered the shaping of the bag to create notches for boxed corners while the fabric was on the loom, so that the densely woven fabric would not need to be cut during the sewing process. The top edging is a 12 strand kumihimo braid, and the strap was woven on an inkle loom, both with the same wool used as weft in the bag.
Here are the woven notches after wet finishing and blocking the fabric.
Here is a side view of the tote, showing the side seam and boxed corner.
Multiple hand painted warps were combined to weave this yardage, in a combined twill, basket weave, and invented structure.
Part of the finished yardage. The colors shifted over the length because much of the warp was hand painted.
