Pikes Peak Weavers Guild cordially invites regional fiber arts guilds to exhibit woven, spun, dyed, and/or felted items created by their guild members. This exhibit lets us connect with each other as fiber artists, and is an important part of Colorado Weavers Day 2016, with our theme of Getting Inspired, Staying Connected.
A selection of awards will be juried by Jean Scorgie, the publisher of Weaver’s Craft, and former editor of Handwoven. Find the details under the Awards tab below.
For those bringing bulky props for guild displays, there is a MAP showing where you can unload your vehicle. Cars must be moved back to the normal parking areas after unloading.
Tables for the guild exhibits are 36” x 6′, in good condition and will be set up in advance. If your guild wants to have table covers you must bring your own.
To decorate the exhibit table you may bring your own signage (some guilds have banners) and display props. Shelving or racks are acceptable, but please be aware that space next to the tables may be limited and also there will be no taping or nailing into walls.
You are welcome to have people not otherwise attending the conference help you in moving display items in and out of the facility. We ask that you please pick up a special badge for your display helpers at the registration table.
Guilds may reserve one or two tables using the form on this page. If your guild would like to participate, please return the reservation form no later than May 10, 2016 to the address on the bottom of the form.
Copies of the form have been mailed out to guilds throughout the region. We will need time to configure the rooms to optimally display all the guild exhibits.
Ribbons from several national weaving and other fiber arts organizations will be awarded for items displayed by the guilds.
The winners will be selected by our Juror Jean Scorgie. If no entry fits the category for a specific award, it may not be presented.
The awards to be presented are:
ATA Award for Excellence
American Tapestry Alliance
Complex Weavers Award 2016
Handweavers Guild of America
Handwoven’s Weaving for the Home Award of Excellence
SDA Award of Excellence
Surface Design Association
While there will be people present near the guild exhibits most of the day, your guild will be responsible for security of your exhibited items. To that end please consider assigning table sitter(s) to man your table at all times.
People helping out with guild displays but not otherwise attending the conference can take part in the catered snacks and meal with prior arrangement. Our catering arrangements do not allow us to add people after our deadline. Please fill out the pertinent information on the Guild Display Table Reservation form.
